Description:
Byte will periodically release a new version of their client that will include new features and updates to the Byte application. These can happen anywhere from once a year, to multiple times a year. This article will cover how this can affect your sync with nCino when these updates are released, and the best practices to take when a new version of Byte is released.
Steps to resolve:
When Byte pushes out an update, your version will need to be updated on both sides (meaning your side and nCino's side) to ensure that there is as little interruption to the sync as possible. If the update is not coordinated with Support, loans and loan applications will not update between your Byte instance and the nCino Mortgage Portal. Here is an example of the type of error message that will be thrown on a Loan Application if your Byte update is not coordinated with nCino Mortgage Support:
ByteAdapter: VersionMismatch
Byte Online Clients:
- If you are a Byte Online Customer, you will receive an update from Byte stating that there is a new version of Byte being released. You will need to coordinate with Byte to ensure when the update will be taking place (Date, Time, and Time Zone).
- Once you confirm when the update will be taking place, you will want to inform nCino Mortgage Support using our Support form to let us know when you will be updating. Please note that it is generally recommended that you give support at least a week notice that you will be updating so that we can set aside the proper time and prepare for the update.
- It is best if you enter the Byte version that you are updating to as the subject line. It should look something like "Byte Version Update to XX.X".
- In the Description section of the form, you will want to once again confirm what version of Byte you are updating to as well as advise what Date, Time, and Time Zone the update will be taking place in. Your response should look something similar to this: "We will be updating our Byte version to XX.X on 05/01/202X at 10 PM EST. Please schedule our update to take place at this time".
- Once you submit the ticket to Support, you will receive a response back from an agent confirming that we have scheduled your update to take place at the specified time you provided.
- If for any reason the date or time of the update changes, or needs to be rescheduled, please reach out to Support and we can reschedule your update as to not interrupt the sync.
- It should also be noted that no additional steps are needed on the nCino side of things when Byte pushes out a revision version. This process is only needed on major releases from Byte. For example if Byte pushes out 25.1 Revision B and you are on 25.1 Revision A, no further action is needed with nCino, and your sync will not be interrupted.
Self Hosted Clients:
- If you are a Self Hosted Byte client, you may take the update whenever you would like, and Byte will not "force" you update on their terms. You should receive a notification that a new version of Byte is available, and can sign into the Byte Support Portal to grab the update files and release notes.
- When you are ready to update, you will need to inform nCino Mortgage Support that you are going to be updating your Byte client version as mentioned above (see steps 2 - 7).
- Support will schedule your update to take place at the specified time that you give and again we recommend that you let us know when you will be updating your version at least a week in advance.
