Input String Was Not in the Correct Format Error

Description:

Occasionally the following error message may pop up in Encompass when either attempting to send out a package, or trying to pull a disclosure package into the LOS

"Could not download docs: Cannot update loan. Input string was not in a correct format."

Steps to resolve:

This error message is not a native nCino error message, and instead is being thrown somewhere in Encompass. The nCino Plugin is just picking up and surfacing the error message. The error means that there is a data entry error in a field in Encompass that is causing issues. 

  • nCino is unable to troubleshoot this; however the main resolution found is that there is a value that is entered into the 'Number of Units' field (field ID 16) that is not accepted. 

  • Updating the field so that there is a limit of 3 digits and performing a save action seems to clear the error message that is received when trying to send or import disclosures.
  • As an example, if the value of 2,025 is entered into field 16 in Encompass and there is an attempt to send disclosures, the above mentioned error message is seen. Remove one digit of this value to instead make it 202 and the error message will clear and allow successful package creation. 

Solution:

It appears that Encompass may have a limit based on what unit type is entered in the file. While you can endlessly enter as many digits as you'd like into the actual field, there seems to be logic in Encompass that prevents this field from allowing more than 3 digits to be entered as the value.

While this has been the only case that nCino has seen, it is possible that there are other fields inside of Encompass that could behave similarly, please reach out to ICE support directly and request assistance in troubleshooting which field in Encompass is throwing the error message.
